VENETIAN SCHOOL (17th century) "Portrait of Alvise Contarini, Doge of Venice", 1676

Oil on copper. This portrait of Alvise Contarini (1601-1684), 106th Doge of the Republic of Venice, is painted on a reused copper plate, engraved with a fragment of a musical score. On the reverse there is a painted inscription with the name of the sitter, his possible date of execution, which coincides with the year of his appointment, and the identification of who could be its author "Franco Maggioni". Measurements: 14.5 x 11.8 cm.
