Kongo male fetish statue, Democratic Republic of the Congo,

This statuette has eyes made of glass. The stomach has a cavity to contain a magical charge. In this cavity or receptacle, the magical charge, also called Bilongo, was sealed, which gave all its power to the fetish. The Bilongo is composed of various plant and animal substances and is placed in the cavity, closed by a resinous plug decorated with shells or mirror.
