ANTONIO TOMASICH Y HARO Almeria (1815) / Madrid (1891) "Portrait of a Lady"

Miniature in gouache and tempera Signed and dated 1858 on the right side. It is presented in a mercury-gilded bronze tabletop frame with chiseled relief decoration. Frame measurements: 30 x 20 cm On the back signed: "Alph. Guiroux to Paris". The Maison Alphonse Giroux was founded in 1799 by Francois-Simon-Alphonse Giroux, (c.1775-1848) restorer, cabinetmaker and specialist in metalwork; The company initially began selling materials for artists as well as cabinetmaking products. The nature of the business soon expanded to the manufacturing and retailing of luxury goods and works of art. His sons, Andre and Alphonse-Gustave, joined the company in 1834. Following the retirement of Francois-Simon-Alphonse Giroux in 1838, his eldest son, Alphonse-Gustave Giroux, took over the company with the name "Alphonse Giroux et Cie". Under his control, the company gained even more recognition for the quality of its work and art objects, especially its bronze works, winning a silver medal at the Exhibition of Products of French Industry in 1839.
