BERNARDO GERMÁN LLORENTE Seville (1680 / 1759) "Still life with barber's instruments"

Oil on canvas glued to board. This painter from the Seville Baroque school's production includes trompe l'oeil and still lifes that demonstrate a knowledge of the Flemish and Dutch schools. This work can be stylistically related to the pair of canvases kept in the Louvre Museum, which show drawings and tools in the form of a workshop corner, while here what is represented are barber's instruments. At the bottom right, under the shaving brush, there is an edition of "La misma conciencia acusca", a play by Moreto, produced in Seville by the widow of Francisco Leefdael around 1728. The inscription "Dº" is engraved on the jar on the left. Measurements: 59 x 80 cm.
