SPANISH SCHOOL (17TH CENTURY) "Cell cross of Sister Maria de Jesus de Ágreda"

Oil on panel. At the base of the cross is the true portrait of the Spanish Conceptionist nun, known for her writings and considered by the Catholic Church to be one of its great mystics. Below the portrait is the inscription: "Original cross and portrait / of the venerable mother María / de Iesus [...] / of the Conception of the Town of Ágreda, died / in the year 1665 / at the age of / 63 years". Measurements: 95.5 x 53 cm.
