HISPANO-PHILIPPINE SCHOOL (17TH CENTURY) "San Diego de Alca

Carved and partially polychromed ivory San Diego de Alcala was canonized in 1588 and was a very popular saint during the 17th century both on the peninsula and in the overseas provinces. The carving presented here can be compared with a Saint Anthony of Padua from the Cluny Museum reproduced in Margarita M.
