Igala mask, Nigeria, c. 1970

Along with the royal Igala masks, the most well-known at Idah festivals, there are other rarer masks, some of which may be from Akpoto. This mask is the perfect illustration of a monopolization of several styles, as it comes from this cultural region with mixed influences. Height: 32 cm Reproduced: Catalogue “Africa Babel: the Art of a Continent”, p.- 150 right
