JUAN NIÑO DE GUEVARA Madrid (1632) / Malaga (1698) "Virgin of the Milk"

Oil on canvas. The influence of Alonso Cano is evident in this canvas attributed to Juan Niño de Guevara, considered the most outstanding painter of the Malaga Baroque. The years of apprenticeship with the master and the latter's intermittent presence in Malaga determined the classicism of his pictorial language, his chromatic palette and his type of brushstroke. The same can be said of his models, as can be seen in this Virgin with the Child in her arms, directly inspired by one of Cano's best-known paintings. Measurements: 45.5 x 38.5 cm.
