MARIANO BENLLIURE Valencia (1862) / Madrid (1947) "My grandson"

Mariano Benlliure modelled the figure of his first grandson, Guillermo Stefaniai Benlliure (1914-1956) in 1915. After making a bronze casting, in 1922 he carved the half-length figure in marble, a work which he donated years later, specifically in 1939, to the Academy of Fine Arts of the Immaculate Conception in Valladolid. He also made several replicas of the bust in ceramic, enamelled in white or with different polychromy, such as the one shown here.
